Call for Contributions – The Feminist Memory Project

We, at Nepal Picture Library, are proud to announce the commencement of the Feminist Memory Project this year. Through this project, NPL intends to create a permanent photo archive of women’s and feminist movements in Nepal. Our aim is to become the largest collection of photographs relating to the feminist heritage of Nepal, which–along with other materials such as oral histories, testimonials, correspondences, pamphlets, and documents–will be availed to scholars, researchers, curators, educators, and public users.

We invite you to contribute to building this visual archive of Nepali feminist history. Since NPL is a digital archive, we will return the materials as soon as they are digitized and catalogued in our library. All types of private and institutional materials are welcome. In addition, we would also appreciate if you could spread the word about the project or alert us to collections you know about.

The project came about from the realization that although the feminist movement of Nepal has a deep history, there has been no sustained effort to compile the sources demonstrating the progresses and the struggles of the movement in order to make the study or public access of these materials convenient. We are confident you will see this project as worthwhile and beneficial to the advancement of feminist goals in Nepal. We eagerly anticipate that you will support NPL in this endeavour.

यसै वर्षबाट फेमिनिस्ट मेमोरी प्रोजेक्ट प्रारम्भ भएको घोषणा गर्न पाउँदा नेपाल पिक्चर लाइब्रेरी अत्यन्तै गौरव महसुस गर्दछ ।यस कार्यक्रममार्फत नेपाल पिक्चर लाइब्रेरीले नेपालको महिला इतिहास तथा नारीवादीआन्दोलनको इतिहासको एक स्थायी फोटो अभिलेखालय स्थापना गर्ने उद्देश्य राखेको छ ।
हाम्रो लक्ष्य नेपालमा नारीवादी इतिहास तथा विरासतसम्बन्धमा फोटोहरूको सबैभन्दा ठुलो संग्रह बन्नु हो । मौखिक इतिहास, साविती, चिट्ठीपत्र, प्याम्फ्लेट तथा अन्य दस्तावेजसहितको यो संग्रह अध्येता, अनुसन्धानकर्ता,कलाप्रबन्धक, अध्यापक तथा सार्वजनिक प्रयोगकर्ताहरूकालागि उपलब्ध हुनेछ ।
 
नेपाली नारीवादी इतिहासको यो अभिलेखालय निर्माण गर्ने यो अभियानमा योगदान दिनुहुन हामी सबैलाई आमन्त्रण गर्दछौँ । नेपाल पिक्चर लाइब्रेरी विशुद्ध डिजिटल अभिलेखालय भएकाहुनाले श्रोत सामग्रीलाई हामीलेडिजिटाईज गरेर आफ्नो अभिलेखालयमा राखिभ्याउने बित्तिकै फिर्ता गर्नेछौँ । निजी तथा सँस्थागत गरि हरेक प्रकारका सामग्री हामीकहाँ ल्याउनुहुन हाम्रो अनुरोध छ । साथै, तपाईंलाई यस प्रयोजनकालागि उपयुक्तहुने कुनै संकलनबारे थाहा छ भने हामीलाई जानकारी दिनुहुन तथा यस अभियानबारे खबर फैलाइ दिनुहुन अनुरोध गर्दछौँ ।    
 
नेपालमा नारीवादी आन्दोलनको इतिहास लामो र गम्भीर भएपनि नेपालमा नारीवादी आन्दोलनका आरोहअवरोहबारे श्रोतसामग्री संकलन गरेर ति सामग्रीको अध्ययन सम्भव 
बनाउन अथवा सामग्रीसम्म सार्वजनिकपहुँच निर्माण गर्न कतैबाट दिगो प्रयास नभएको देखिएकाले यो कार्यक्रम सिर्जना गरिएको हो ।हाम्रो आशा छ कि तपाईंलाई यो कार्यक्रमले नेपालमा नारीवादी अभियानका लक्ष्यलाई अघि बढाउन सघाउने छ र समग्रमालाभप्रद हुनेछ भन्ने बोध हुनेछ ।नेपाल पिक्चर लाइब्रेरीको यो कार्यक्रमप्रति तपाईंको सशक्त सहयोग र समर्थनको हामी प्रतिक्षा गर्दछौँ ।
